Please Whisper

So for a few months now, I have been trying my hand at photography. I hate to even use that word "photography" because I am far from being a photographer. So, for now, let's just call it "I got a pretty nice camera and I've been trying to figure it out and a few times along the way, I've gotten some pretty decent shots." It's a little longer, but, oh well.

So along with taking pictures (okay, that's a bit easier to manage), I've also been playing around in Photoshop. I've become quite addicted to a few different editing techniques, one of which is the tried and true black and white. I love black and white pictures!

I love the way a black and white photo suddenly makes you want to be quiet and still. And if it makes you want to speak, a whisper is most appropriate. Anything louder would disturb the moment. Here are a few of my favorites. If you're moved to words, please whisper! :)

Time for friends

On Saturday, we spent some time with some very good friends who we haven't seen in awhile. And by awhile, I mean 2 years. You know how it goes, someone lives more than 5 minutes away from you and suddenly they might as well live in another galaxy because life just doesn't seem to permit the time for you to spend with them. Work is busy, the kids keep you busy, time gets away from you -- we all sing that song.

Well we finally turned the "We should really get together soon" into a reality. And we did it. And you know the amazing part? The world didn't explode because we put our "have to's" aside and focused on our "want to's" instead. Pretty cool.

So from now on, I will make a promise to myself to make time for and enjoy the things that REALLY matter, and quit freaking out about the things that don't. With that said, here are some pictures of our beautiful children and our perfectly lovely day.

In the Navy...

In ten days, my husband will be a Chief, and together, we will get to celebrate the most important day of his career. I can't wait to pin those anchors on and watch him soak up every second of the glory he so richly deserves. Until then, ten reasons why I love being a Navy wife...

10. I love knowing that in an indirect way, I'm helping to make the world a better place for people who are less fortunate than I am.

9. I never thought I could be this independent.

8. I'm a real sucker for a man in uniform.

7. Celebrating Christmas in February because he's been gone is even better than celebrating in December.

6. You realize how much you mean to each other when you're separated.

5. Sometimes, it's nice having the whole bed to myself.

4. I can hold down a full time job, take care of our child, pay all the bills on time, clean the house, and still have time to catch up on my trashy TV. And I don't even need a fairy godmother.

3. We have made some of the best friends.

2. Free healthcare!

1. After weeks and sometimes months of separation, all the anxiety, anger, sadness and fear goes away the second you see their face. And somehow you forget about all the bad stuff.
